To better understand how companies experience their entry into the Catena-X ecosystem, we spoke with one of our early adopters – Eberspächer Group. Their story highlights the tangible benefits of Catena-X integration, the quality of sovity’s support, and the strategic decisions that shaped their success.

Why Catena-X?

The motivation to explore Catena-X stemmed from a clear request from an OEM and the desire to move away from proprietary solutions. After the first meeting with the OEM and Catena-X representatives, it became evident that this initiative was revolutionary. It offered the potential to unlock countless use cases by shifting from fragmented, traditional systems to a unified, industry-wide solution.

Goals and Challenges

Eberspächer aimed to reduce system maintenance, improve data governance, and automate governance processes. These goals were successfully achieved through the Catena-X integration, resulting in a more streamlined and efficient IT landscape.

Onboarding Experience

The onboarding process took place during the early stages of Catena-X. While there were initial challenges, around certificate management, sovity played a crucial role in overcoming them. Their support was instrumental in ensuring a smooth and speedy onboarding, including facilitating communication with the OEM.

Why sovity?

The decision to work with sovity was influenced by a recommendation from the OEM and previous positive experiences. What stood out most was sovity’s speed of action and flexibility.  For instance, during the testing phase, we encountered complications related to our internal IT landscape. The sovity development team responded with in a very flexible and effective way, working closely with us to identify and implement a solution quickly.

Tangible Results

Since adopting sovity’s ECU solution in November 2024, the system has proven to be highly reliable with no issues reported. While the previous system was also stable, the new setup has allowed the company to extend review cycles and reduce time investment, leading to greater operational efficiency.

Looking Ahead

The company is currently exploring the company certificate management (CCM) Use Case for 2025. When asked whether they would recommend participating in Catena-X and leveraging sovity’support, the answer was clear: “absolutely”.

Their advice to others?

“Take a close look at the market and consider your specific challenges. Do you simply need an EDC provider, or are you looking for a partner who can deliver a complete solution? For Tier-1 suppliers, the answer is often both. This is a strategic choice that every company needs to make carefully.”
